Work permit EA Citizens

Mikhaila made this Access to Information request to Rwanda Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Rwanda Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration,

I would like to ask for the following information under Law no 04/2013 of 08/02/2013 relating to access to information.

I saw on here that as an East African you need a work permit, but that it is free. I just have one more question, I recently got a nanny from Uganda she arrived over the weekend. I would like to bring her for the work permit, however she only has her national ID card and a Letter from the Local Chairman. Is this enough documentation for us to come and apply for the work permit. And what other information will be needed from me as her employee?

Thank you in advance, looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Mikhaila

Dear Communication and Customer care Office,

I am a South African national and I am married to a Rwandan I have a dependence visa myself for being in Rwanda.

But the nanny that I got she is Ugandan and has a Ugandan National ID and the LC letter that I mentioned earlier. Will this documentation suffice for her to apply for a work permit?

Yours sincerely,

Mikhaila

Dear Mikhaila,

Reference to your request to apply for permit of your nanny, we would like to inform you that she is not eligible to get the residence/work permit as the position is not on the Occupation on Demand List (ODL).
Check the link for reference: https://www.migration.gov.rw/fileadmin/t...
Note that her current stay in Rwanda is ONLY for visit/holidays, valid for 6 months from the date of entry as she used her Ugandan ID.
We advise you to contact known associations/cooperatives that provide housekeeping/baby-sitting services
