Make daily Chamber of Deputies debate schedules available on parliament.gov.rw

Stephen Abbott Pugh made this Access to information request to The Chamber of Deputies

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, The Chamber of Deputies should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

From: Stephen Abbott Pugh

Dear Pamela,

I would like to ask for the following information under Law no
04/2013 of 08/02/2013 relating to access to information.

When the Chamber of Deputies is in session, there is a daily email
sent to a mailing list of journalists and interested parties in
Rwanda to inform them of the schedule of debates/activities for the
Chamber of Deputies that day.

However this calendar information is not uploaded or released via
the Chamber of Deputies' website at parliament.gov.rw meaning that
members of the public cannot see what issues or topics are due to
be debated on any day by the MPs.

It is in the public interest to release this information to inform
the public about the activities of the Chamber of Deputies as well
as promoting founded public debate, as mandated by Rwanda's 2013
access to information law.

Please can you task someone from the Chamber of Deputies' website
or communications team with uploading these daily schedules to
parliament.gov.rw every morning whenever the Chamber of Deputies is
sitting so that members of the public can find this information on
your website?

Yours faithfully,

Stephen Abbott Pugh

Dear Pamela,

Have you had the chance to look at the access to information
request that I sent you last week?

Rwanda's access to information law says that you are obliged to
respond to my request within three working days so it would be
great to know if the Chamber of Deputies will be able to take any
steps to make your debate schedules/calendar available on the
parliament.gov.rw website.

Yours faithfully,

Stephen Abbott Pugh

Team Sobanukirwa are happy to note that, following this access to information request, the Parliament of Rwanda has now started uploading Today in Parliament documents to their website.

These key documents provide daily, timely information to citizens and interested members of the public about what events, meetings or debates are taking place on that date.

You can find the latest document by going to Parliament's homepage and clicking on the link in the Today in Parliament section: http://www.parliament.gov.rw/home/
