Dear Gentille

If the discrepancy that you are talking about will needs to change your names (from the names that you were given from your childhood to other names) that proceed is wrong. You will need to write to the Minister of Justice asking him the authorization to change your names, give sounds reasons why you want to change your names and show the new name (s) that you wish to have. You will annex to letter the copy of your ID or Passport and other relevant documents supporting your request. You will need also to attach to that letter, the Birth Certificate. To get this, you take the court decision that you mentioned in your email to the Executive Secretary of the Sector where you was born and from that court decision, he will make the birth certificate.

If the discrepancy does not make any change to your names but simple correction, you will take the court decision to the institution where you want to have your names corrected.

Best regards

YANKULIJE Odette
Head of Access to Justice Services Department/Principal State Attorney
